The Nazis

Time Life Books World War II Series

With some 41 books in this series the editors start out by covering specific battles, say the Battle of the Bulge, to more general areas of conflict - air battles, carrier battles. Land areas that get focus are northern Africa, the Middle East, specific countries are covered, and you get the idea. Most of these books that cover a region span from the beginning to the end of the war. There are other volumes covering the home front of the main combatants.

Well The Nazis is a broad overview off, the Nazis. The first couple of books in the series, Prelude to war and Blitzkrieg, helped to explain how the Nazis came into being. This volume covers them from the start of the war with a look at the people involved, namely Hitler. There are picture essays on his speeches, his private life and attempted coups. Luckily for history the Nazis photographed and filmed much of what they did and it has all been gathered for the Time Life books. When I finally get around to the series on The Third Reich (I think it’s about 20 books) I’ll be able to get more detail about the Germans. I’m guessing that that series is why this volume hits only a few of the highlights of the party throughout the war.
