Okay so this isn't a review of a book I've read. But one that I'll read in the future. So if you are still with me read on.
You probably heard of the book that J.K Rowling hand wrote and illustrated, Tales of Beedle the Bard. She only made seven copies. She gave six away to friends and auctioned off one of them. Amazon won the auction and now, it is available to the masses for PRE-ORDER ONLY right now from Amazon, in two different editions. (Official release date is December 4, 2008)
Standard and Collector's Edition
The Standard Edition features all five fairy tales from the original The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a new introduction by J.K. Rowling, illustrations reproduced from the original handcrafted book, and commentary on each of the tales by Professor Albus Dumbledore.
Amazon is also thrilled to offer a luxuriously packaged Collector's Edition (LIMITED number to be produced; available exclusively at Amazon) designed to evoke the spirit of the handcrafted original. It is housed in its own case (made to resemble a wizarding textbook found in the Hogwarts library). The Collector's Edition includes a reproduction of J.K. Rowling's handwritten introduction, as well as 10 additional illustrations not found in the Standard Edition. Opening the cover of the case reveals a velvet bag embroidered with J.K. Rowling's signature, in which sits the piece de resistance: your very own copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, complete with metal skull, corners, and clasp; replica gemstones; and emerald ribbon.
Note: Amazon has a Pre-order Price Guarantee! Order now and if the Amazon.com price decreases between your order time and the end of the day of the release date, you'll receive the lowest price.
I really like the concept of a book with a cut out section to hide the actual book.
In other news, I've been laid up with a sore foot this past week (why do I always get sick or injured on my vacation!?!) The good news is, I've been able to devote a lot more time to reading in the past couple of days. I've been able to read a couple of books, Finding Serenity and World Without End. I have one more in the queue, Serenity Found. This should put me a few weeks ahead of schedule which is also good as I need to take a break from reading to study up for my twice yearly tests for work. It wouldn't do me any good to get suspended from work because I was reading for pleasure instead of boning up on work regulations.
Thanks for keeping tabs on my progress.
Happy Mother's Day!
