The Husband

By Dean Koontz

It’s not often my wife and I read the same book. I’m not sure how it started but the one author whose books we both read in Dean Koontz. Odd choice no? Yeah I have to say that most of his books are strange. Yeah that’s putting in mildly. They are way out there. Supernatural happenings, psycho characters. Well The Husband will not disappoint. Well maybe it will.

Of all the books of Koontz that I’ve read this one is the most normal. And I liked it. The story didn’t get to far out of the realm of what’s really possible. A husband’s wife is kidnapped. He gets his brother to assist him. Things go wrong. His brother turns out to not live the life he thought.

The strangest people in the book? The parents. If you read this one you’ll understand. But let me relate about the learning room. A sensory deprivation room, completely dark and soundproof that the parents would put the kids in to teach them when they did something wrong. Yeah I let my mom borrow this book and as a joke I told her that we were making a learning room for when our daughter was born. She didn’t think it was funny. Some people.

If you’ve never read a Dean Koontz book this might be a good one to start with. Not to strange but gruesome and filled with odd characters.
